I lost my password. How do I get in?
|
| Answer |
If you have a Netscreen 5xP, you can use the reset button to set the configuration to factory defaults. WARNING: You will lose your configuration. If you have a 10/100, then you must send it back to Netscreen.

| Question |
How can I define the various ICMP types in the Netscreen?
|
| Answer |
ICMP does not use ports. However when you try to define an ICMP service, it asks you for the source and destination ports. These ports are derived from the ICMP type and code values. Use these values in decimal format to determine ports. I.E. A ICMP service of type 13 and code 0 would be 0D00 hex. Translated to decimal it would be 3328. You would use the "port" of 3328.

| Question |
I created a rule to allow a port through, but it still is not going through. What can be happening?
|
| Answer |
There are a few things to check. 1) Check that the source port is 0 to 65535. Some pre-defined services do not have this value. 2) Check policy to ensure that you are allowing access to/from the correct device.

| Question |
I save the configuration from one Netscreen and uploaded it to a second one and now I am locked out. What happened?
|
| Answer |
The configuration file that you saved from one Netscreen contains the encrypted password for logins, not the plain text. So when you upload the configuration without adjusting that field in the file, it will change the password to the encrypted value. Try using the encrypted value. If that fails, try using the encrypted value plus the first letter of your original password.
