| Question |
I am on a newer version. What is the best way to go back a version and still keep my strategies?
|
| Answer |
Unfortunately, there is no simple way to go back. You have two options. 1) Write down the configurations from the existing one and then create them in the one you want to use. 2) Load the software you want to use on a separate PC and then compare screen from the existing one.

| Question |
What is the best version of Guardian?
|
| Answer |
The most tested version with the fewest problems is 4.11. However if you have a problem with needing a new feature that is in 5.02 you need to go to version 5.02. If you downloaded version 5.00 or 5.01, while they were available and it hasn't crashed yet then you are OK but do NOT upgrade to it. Talk to someone about why you want to run it. Version 5 had very few bug fixes above 4.11 and is mostly for new features that were promised.

| Question |
I set the firewall to collect history. However, when I open my Manager and try to view it I see nothing. What is happening?
|
| Answer |
For the Manager to collect history data from the Agent, it must be open and connected to the Agent at all times. If you are only opening the Manager and connecting to the Agent to make changes, then you will not see the latest information.

| Question |
The Manager is not resolving anything in real time monitoring. What is the issue?
|
| Answer |
You need to verify the following. 1) The station that is running the Manager has DNS entries in the TCP/IP section of network properties. 2) The station that is running the Manager is allowed access to the DNS servers. A good test is to go to a DOS prompt and see if the machine can ping www.cisco.com and see if it resolves.
